St. Louis City Council approved a $306,600 contract to paint the 500,000-gallon water tower near Michigan Avenue at its meeting on Jan. 8.
Seven Brothers Painting of Shelby Township was the low bidder. Four bids were received and the second lowest was 20 percent higher than Seven Brothers. The project also includes replacement of the aviation light, relocation of the overflow pipe and a logo.
Seven Brothers Painting has completed similar projects in Hillsdale, Muskegon, Marshall, Gaylord, Niles, Dowagiac, Sparta and Wyoming.
An additional $19,881 is expected to be paid to Dixon Engineering of Lake Odessa, Mich. for the project.
Work is expected to begin in the spring.
