City administrators urge coronavirus caution for those who watch fireworks Saturday

St. Louis has issued a press release urging people who watch the fireworks this weekend to take precautions on account of the coronavirus.

The show begins at 10 p.m. Saturday, July 4. The fireworks will be launched from the Velsicol site.

“While outdoor activities are believed to have lower risks associated, we continue to be concerned about coronavirus and take this matter very seriously,” the press release says. “If you plan to attend, city representatives are requesting you take every reasonable precaution to avoid the spread of COVID-19. We encourage viewing the fireworks show from inside your parked vehicle in cases where that is an option.

“Please avoid creating any areas that are crowded with people. Maintain social distancing as recommended by the health departments and Center for Disease Control and wear appropriate face covering masks when you’re in closer proximity to others.

“Finally, please do your part by continuing to use best practices for hand washing/disinfection to reduce the chances for spreading disease.”
