A truck hauling construction material lost an argument with a guardrail on southbound North Main where it curves around the Pine River early Monday morning.
The damage was discovered by a DPW worker. Police were then notified. A witness’s account lead police to Weber’s Trucking, a subcontractor for Central Asphalt of Mt. Pleasant.
Weber’s Trucking agreed to pay for repair of the guardrail, and the driver has been sanctioned by the company.
Arrangements have been made with Action Traffic Maintenance to replace the guardrail.
The city is not seeking criminal charges.
DPW Superintendent Mark Abbott explained what happened: “The driver was going slow around the turn due to being loaded and with the weight and having all his axles down the truck did not turn properly and the back axle hopped the curb and hit the guardrail.”
