This is where the St. Louis Sentinel reports the final dispositions of notable local crimes. The information is provided by Police Chief Richard J. Ramereiz Jr.

Beat down

A 35-year-old St. Louis resident was arrested Sunday, Jan. 10, for felony domestic assault in the 700 block of Fairway Drive. A 28-year-old St. Louis resident reported being assaulted by the person they were dating. The investigation revealed that the suspect was a convicted felon and had possession of a firearm and ammunition at the time of the assault. However, the firearm was not part of the assault. The investigation also revealed that the firearm was reported stolen by the Saginaw Police Department. Disposition: The suspect pled “no contest” to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and was sentenced to 5-10 years in prison.

Sex offense

Police began an investigation of criminal sexual conduct on Monday, Feb. 1, that was reported by Child Protective Services. Disposition: Closed due to lack of evidence to support the allegation.

Drunk driving

An unoccupied vehicle was found in the ditch in the 1000 block of Michigan Avenue on Wednesday, Feb. 3. The driver was located and an investigation was completed. The 44-year-old St. Louis resident who was operating the vehicle was arrested for drunk driving. Disposition: Suspect pled guilty. Thirty days in jail. Fines of $1464.08.

Drugged driver

A 26-year-old Breckenridge resident was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs on M46 near Hubbard at 7:07 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8.  The suspect was lodged at the Gratiot County Jail. Disposition: An original charge of operating while intoxicated was pled down to impaired driving.

Domestic assault

A domestic assault was reported at 3:48 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14.  The suspect was arrested and lodged at the Gratiot County Jail. Disposition: Case was dismissed on March 11 because the victim declined prosecution.

Domestic assault

A domestic assault was reported on Friday, Feb. 19. The complaint was turned over to the Gratiot County Prosecutor’s Office to be reviewed for criminal charges.  Disposition: Suspect pled no contest and was sentenced to prison for two to five years.

Assault

A 42-year-old St. Louis resident reported they were assaulted by a 27-year-old St. Louis resident on Monday, Feb. 22, in the 700 block of Fairway Drive. The suspect was identified. Witness statements were gathered and the complaint was submitted to the Gratiot County Prosecutor’s Office for criminal charges. The victim suffered a bruised and swollen eye. Update: Prosecutor Keith Kushion says the defendant failed to appear for arraignment on the assault charge, and a bench warrant was issued for her arrest. Her case will proceed once she is arrested. 

Domestic assault

A domestic assault was reported and investigated on Saturday, Feb. 28. The suspect was arrested and lodged at the Gratiot County Jail. The complaint was turned over to the Gratiot County Prosecutor’s Office. Disposition: This case was dismissed after the victim’s testimony under oath differed substantially from his original statement to police officers, according to Kushion.
