Riverside Drive expected to be re-opened to traffic on July 31, after $90,000 repair

By Ralph Echtinaw

If you travel from St. Louis to Midland you’ve probably noticed that Riverside Drive/Pine River Road is close north of St. Louis.

The problem is a “slope failure along the road,” says Gratiot County Road Commission Engineer/Manager Mark Craft.

“We have put together plans for repair and will be opening bids from contractors on June 6,” Craft continued. “Our estimated project cost is $90,000. The project completion date is July 31. And the road should be opened back up at that time.”

You may remember that Riverside Drive was closed for months in 2020 in the same general area. Craft said the current trouble spot “is directly adjacent to and north of the section repaired in 2020.”
