Guard rail damaged

A guard rail in the 600 block of West Jackson was found damaged at 3:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2. Police determined that a vehicle hit the guard rail and left the scene. Evidence found at the scene shows the suspect vehicle may be a white Chevy Traverse.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Possible child neglect

Two juveniles had left their home and were found in the 100 block of East Washington (a.k.a. M46) at 9:17 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2. The kids were returned home. Their parent didn’t know they had left. The complaint was turned over to Child Protective Services.

Domestic assault (6)

A domestic assault in the 400 block of West Saginaw was reported at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3. The complaint was investigated and turned over to Gratiot County Prosecutor Keith Kushion.

License plate stolen 

A license plate was reported stolen from a car in the 500 block of West Center.

Drugs

Police arrested the passenger of a vehicle that was stopped for an equipment violation at Olive and Hebron around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, and cited the driver for driving without insurance. The passenger had illegal drugs in his or her possession and multiple arrest warrants out of Saginaw County. The driver was released, while the passenger was lodged at the Gratiot County Jail.

Drugged driving

Police issued a citation for drugged driving at 9:16 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, after receiving a report of a vehicle being driven recklessly. The traffic stop took place at the corner of Pine and North streets. The complaint was turned

over to the Gratiot County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Revoked license

Police issued a citation for driving with no insurance and with a revoked license following a traffic stop (for an equipment violation) at 6:16 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, on the corner of Saginaw and Hubbard. The complaint was

turned over to the prosecutor for review.

Suspended license

Police issued a citation for driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop for an equipment violation at 6:56 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, on the corner of M46 and Watson. The complaint was turned over to the prosecutor for review.

Suspended license

Police issued a citation for driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop (for an equipment violation) at 3:22 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, on the corner of M46 and Pine. The complaint was turned over to the prosecutor for review.

Warrant arrest

Police arrested the passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over at M46 and Hubbard on Sunday, Jan. 22, for a moving violation. A criminal records check turned up a Genesee County warrant for the passenger’s arrest. The subject was taken into custody and turned over to Genesee County.

Criminal sexual conduct (70)

Police received a criminal sexual conduct complaint at 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23. An investigation is ongoing.

Domestic violence (73)

A domestic assault was reported at 5:19 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24. The complaint was investigated and turned over

to the prosecutor for review.

Criminal sexual conduct (96)

A criminal sexual conduct complaint was reported at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, and is under investigation.

Child abuse (97)

A child abuse complaint was received at 12:08 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, and is under investigation.

Domestic assault (116)

A domestic assault was reported at 12:33 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10. Police arrested the suspect and took him or her to the Gratiot County Jail. 

Warrant arrest

St. Louis police arrested a St. Louis resident on an assault and battery warrant issued by Mt. Pleasant police at 9:04 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13. The subject was taken into custody and turned over to Mt. Pleasant police. 

Domestic assault (129)

Officer(s) responded to a domestic assault complaint at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, and opened an investigation.

Catalytic converter stolen

The theft of a catalytic converter was reported from the parking lot of Cambridge Apartments at 9:39 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Theft of musical instruments

A St. Louis resident reports a theft of a guitar and drum kit at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2.

Drunk driving

A 70-year-old St. Louis resident was pulled over for an “improper turn” at 12:50 a.m. Monday, March 6. The driver was found to be alcohol impaired and lodged at the Gratiot County Jail.

Shoplifting

Larcenies were reported at 7-Eleven on Wednesday, March 8, and Tuesday, March 14. The suspects were identified. Appearance tickets for retail fraud were issued.

Assault (204)

A domestic assault was reported at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 8. The complaint was investigated and turned over to the Gratiot County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Parole violation

A vehicle was stopped for speeding at 12:50 a.m. Thursday, March 9. The driver was on parole out of Isabella County and was in violation of parole conditions for possessing drug paraphernalia. The complaint was turned over to Isabella County. 

Warrant arrests in Evergreen Village

Police arrested a 54-year-old St. Louis resident around 2 a.m. Saturday, March 11, following a vandalism complaint from the Evergreen Village mobile home park. A background check showed the suspect was wanted by an unknown police agency for an unknown crime. Police responded to a noise complaint at Evergreen Village 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, and found a person who was named in an outstanding warrant from Isabella County. The suspect was arrested and turned over to Isabella County law enforcement personnel.

Suspended license

A 39-year-old St. Louis resident was pulled over for speeding at 10:16 p.m. Sunday, March 19, and found to be driving on a suspended license. The driver was issued an appearance ticket and cited for speeding.

Unknown substance abuse

A 63-year-old St. Louis resident reported at 11:14 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, that an unknown substance was poured over his or her car, causing paint damage.

Child neglect (248)

A child neglect complaint was made on Wednesday, March 22, and is under investigation.

Suspended license

A 21-year-old Wyoming, Mich. resident was stopped for speeding at 12:55 a.m. Thursday, March 23, and found to have a suspended license. The driver was issued an appearance citation. 

Domestic assault arrest (262)

A 47-year-old St. Louis resident was arrested for domestic assault at 6:42 p.m. Friday, March 24.

Possible sex crime (265)

A criminal sexual conduct complaint was made at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 25, and is under investigation. 

Warrant arrest

A 40-year-old St. Louis resident was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office at 7:54 p.m. Saturday, March 25.  

Burnout

An 18-year-old Ithaca man was contacted by police after doing a burnout in the Parkside Assembly of God parking lot across the street from the high school at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 29. The officer did not pursue charges, but the Ithaca man was banned from the parking lot.

Assault

An assault complaint was made in the 1100 block of West Monroe (M46) at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, April 1, and is under investigation.

Drugged driving

A 26-year-old Saginaw resident was arrested and lodged at the Gratiot County Jail after being stopped for a moving violation and an equipment violation at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, April 2. The driver was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

Assault

An assault was reported in the 200 block of South Lincoln at 11:44 a.m. Friday, April 7, and is under investigation.

Disorderly person arrested

A 27-year-old Ithaca resident was arrested for disorderly conduct in the 300 block of North Mill at 4:36 p.m. Friday, April 7, and lodged at the Gratiot County Jail.

Warrant arrest

Police arrested a 34-year-old St. Louis resident after a “verbal argument” led to the person’s car being pulled over in the 300 block of South Lincoln at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8. A background check revealed a Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant for the driver for retail fraud (a.k.a. shoplifting). The person was taken to the Gratiot County Jail and lodged on the warrant.

Sex crime (337)

A criminal sexual conduct complaint in the 100 block of South Pine was reported at 4:18 p.m. Thursday, April 13, and is under investigation.

Sex crime (364)

A criminal sexual conduct complaint was reported at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, and is under investigation.

Warrant arrest

Police hit the daily double at 1:21 p.m. Thursday, April 20, after pulling over a vehicle. The 23-year-old driver was not only speeding but doing it without a driver’s license. The passenger, a 23-year-old Saginaw resident, was found to have a warrant out of Saginaw County. He was arrested and turned over to the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department.

Warrant arrest

Police arrested a 41-year-old Weidman resident on Woodside Drive (off State Road near the industrial park) at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, after a background check showed a misdemeanor warrant for the person’s arrest. The person was lodged at the Gratiot County Jail.

Warrant arrest

Police arrested a 28-year-old St. Louis resident at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, who was wanted by the Gratiot County District Court. The subject was lodged at the Gratiot County Jail.

Clapp Park vandalism

Police were notified at 8:45 a.m. Friday, April 28, that the window on the south side of a building in the park had eight glass blocks damaged. Furthermore, the metal rollup door on the east side of the building had dents in it. The complaint is under investigation.

Suspended license

A 20-year-old Saginaw resident made his or her situation worse at 10:18 p.m. Saturday, April 29, when an officer attempted to stop his or her car for speeding. “The suspect vehicle pulled away at a high rate of speed,” Velasco said. “A short distance later, the driver pulled into a driveway where officers contacted the vehicle.” The driver was found to have a suspended license. He or she was arrested and jailed for the suspended license and also for fleeing and eluding.

Broken window

A resident in the 100 Block of East Crawford Street told police at 11:26 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, that someone broke a window and door panel at his or her home.

Domestic assault (428)

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South East Street at 5:47 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, for a domestic assault. Criminal charges were authorized by the prosecutor, and the suspect was jailed. 

Larceny

A resident in the 300 Block of North Delaware Street reported at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, that golf clubs, golf balls, golf shoes and golf tees were stolen from the his or her residence.
